I think we may be on the brink of getting past the "casino economy" and looking at nurturing ventures that have solid prospects, rather than the hype we're seeing now (and have seen before - can anyone say dot.com?). Silicon Valley is still marvelous but has suffered from too much dumb money chasing too many silly deals because it was easy. It will do better when we get back to more discipline.
